2024 is Truly a Year of Great New Features at Freedompro, Especially Regarding Smart Modules
2024 is proving to be a year of significant innovations at Freedompro, especially with our Smart Modules, the range of Wi-Fi connected intelligent relays that make any type of home "smart" without the need to modify or requalify the electrical system.
After obtaining the prestigious Matter certification (we are proud to mention that our Smart Modules are the first complete line of smart home products to achieve this milestone!), the certification mark and standardized protocol that ensures interoperability and security between smart devices from different manufacturers, two new modules have been launched to complete and further enhance your “smart home experience.”
These are the Smart Outlet and Dry Contact Modules, designed to control home power outlets and pulse or clean contact devices.
Let’s take a closer look at them!
Smart Outlet Modules: Making Your Power Outlets Smart
The new Smart Outlet Modules are professional Wi-Fi smart switches that act on the electrical system to make power outlets smart. They have been designed and developed to take up minimal space, allowing them to be easily connected and hidden behind existing wall switches or outlets.
Moreover, Smart Outlet Modules are Plug & Play devices (meaning they can be used immediately after being connected) and Ready-to-Play (meaning they don’t require complex configurations or additional installations to be used) and are fully compatible with any existing devices in the house.
Just like the rest of the Freedompro Smart Modules range, these are Matter certified and can be used with all the best mobile apps for smart home control, including the most popular voice assistants (Siri, Alexa, Google, and of course, our Freedompro Home App).
By installing the Smart Outlet Modules, you no longer need to buy additional smart outlets – which often don’t blend well with home aesthetics – because the existing, traditional outlets in your home will become smart without altering their look.
These new modules are available in four different MINI versions, and can be installed directly in the electrical boxes, behind wall outlets, or switches:
-
Mini Outlet Module with 2 channels: Allows connection and control of up to two devices powered by 110-240 V AC or 24 V DC.
-
Mini Outlet Module with 1 channel: Allows connection and control of a single device powered by 110-240 V AC or 24 V DC.
-
Mini Outlet Module with 2 channels: Allows connection and control of up to two devices powered by 12 V DC.
-
Mini Outlet Module with 1 channel: Allows connection and control of a single device powered by 12 V DC.
Now that we’ve clarified what Smart Outlet Modules are, let’s dive deeper into how they intelligently control devices plugged into outlets.
When we talk about voice or remote control of devices plugged into the outlets, we refer to the ability to manage the power outlet itself. In this simple and intuitive mode, the Smart Outlet Modules allow you to control a wide variety of commonly used household accessories:
-
Kettle: By controlling it directly via the outlet (and keeping it always on), it will heat water for tea without you having to get up to go to the kitchen.
-
Espresso Machine: Simply keep it on to turn it on or off directly from the power outlet. In the case of newer models, you can even schedule it!
-
Floor Lamps: Turn them on or off with a simple tap on your smartphone.
-
Fan: Similar to the espresso machine, just leave it on and turn it on/off directly from the power outlet.
-
Induction Cooktop.
-
Electric Oven and Microwave.
-
Fridge or Freezer: To cut power before defrosting or when you leave for vacation and don’t need it on.
-
Air Fryer.
-
Electric Car Charging Station.
-
And many more devices plugged into power outlets, such as devices integrated into alarm or security systems.
The immediate benefits are twofold: the convenience of smart management for even “traditional” non-IoT devices and the ease of saving energy. For example, many appliances have LED status lights that continue to consume power even when the device is in sleep or stand-by mode. With the Smart Outlet Modules, you can choose to supply power only when it’s truly needed.
Additionally, Habits (automations based on your routines) become even more complete because, in addition to integrating many more accessories, you can now manage them in a comfortable and sustainable way, turning them off automatically at night or when you’re not home.
Dry Contact Modules: Automating Pulse or Clean Contact Devices
The Dry Contact Modules are the intelligent professional actuators connected via Wi-Fi that Freedompro has designed to automate pulse or clean contact devices (i.e., those that respond to on/off impulses). Just like the Smart Outlet Modules, they are designed to be easily connected and hidden behind existing wall outlets or switches.
Certified Matter and compatible with popular mobile apps (Siri, Alexa, Google) for smart home control, the Dry Contact Modules are available in MINI version and come in four variants:
-
Dry Contact MINI Module with 2 channels: To connect and control up to two devices powered by 110-240 V AC or 24 V DC.
-
Dry Contact MINI Module with 1 channel: To connect and control a single device powered by 110-240 V AC or 24 V DC.
-
Dry Contact MINI Module with 2 channels: To connect and control up to two devices powered by 12 V DC.
-
Dry Contact MINI Module with 1 channel: To connect and control a single device powered by 12 V DC.
As mentioned, the Dry Contact Modules enable the automated control of pulse or clean contact devices, which are primarily found in control and automation systems to trigger specific actions.
In practice, this means they can be used with a wide range of accessories, such as:
-
Irrigation System for the garden.
-
Pedestrian and Vehicle Gates.
-
Garage Door.
-
Boiler (in some cases).
This makes them particularly suitable for homeowners in independent villas or single-family houses, offering the most versatile solution available in the Freedompro Smart Modules range. They can automate a variety of daily actions, enrich existing automations (for example, watering the garden only on certain days or under specific conditions!), and also save energy with less intuitive actions that would be harder to remember to do manually.
With the Dry Contact Modules, along with the Smart Outlet "siblings," they complete the Habits system and provide a comprehensive smart home experience. This marks the end of the first chapter in Freedompro’s smart home journey.
Stay tuned: We still have a lot more to share with you!
