Here are the new Smart Outlet and Dry Contact Modules for controlling electrical outlets and other devices

2024 is truly a year of great news for Freedompro, especially concerning their Smart Modules, the range of Wi-Fi-connected smart relays that make every home smart without the need to modify or requalify the electrical system.
Following the achievement of the prestigious Matter certification (we proudly recall that our Smart Modules are the first complete line of products dedicated to smart homes to achieve this milestone!), which is the conformity mark and standardized protocol ensuring interoperability and security among smart devices from different manufacturers, two new Modules have been introduced to further enhance and make your "smart home experience" even more comfortable.
These are the Smart Outlet and Dry Contact Modules, designed to control household sockets and impulse or clean contact devices.
Let's get to know them better!
Smart Outlet Modules: Making Your Power Sockets Smart
The new Smart Outlet Modules are professional smart switches connected via Wi-Fi that act on the electrical system, making power sockets smart. They are designed and developed to occupy very little space, making them easy to connect and conceal behind existing wall switches or sockets.
Moreover, the Smart Outlet Modules are Plug & Play (usable immediately upon connection) and Ready-to-Play (require no complex configurations or additional installations to be used) devices fully compatible with any existing device in the home.
Just like the rest of the Freedompro Smart Modules range, they are Matter certified and therefore usable with all the best mobile apps for smart home control, including the most popular voice assistants (Siri, Alexa, and Google, as well as our own Freedompro Home App).
By installing the Smart Outlet Modules, there is no longer a need to buy additional smart sockets - which generally do not stand out for their aesthetics - because the classic ones already present in the house become smart without changing their appearance.
The new Modules are currently available in four different variants of the MINI version, and therefore installable directly in junction boxes, behind wall sockets or switches:
- 2-channel MINI Outlet Module, which allows you to connect and control up to two accessories powered at 110-240 V AC or 24 V DC.
- 1-channel MINI Outlet Module, which allows you to connect and control a single accessory powered at 110-240 V AC or 24 V DC.
- 2-channel MINI Outlet Module, which allows you to connect and control up to two accessories powered at 12 V DC.
- 1-channel MINI Outlet Module, which allows you to connect and control a single accessory powered at 12 V DC.
Now that we know what Smart Outlet Modules are, let's delve into what it means for them to intelligently control objects connected to power sockets.
When we talk about voice or remote control of objects plugged into sockets, we refer to the ability to directly manage the power socket. In this very simple and intuitive mode, Smart Outlet Modules allow you to control a wide variety of accessories commonly found in our homes:
- Kettle: by controlling it directly from the socket (and of course leaving it always on), you can heat water for tea without having to go to the kitchen.
- Espresso coffee machine: simply leave it plugged in to activate or deactivate it directly from the power socket. And with the latest models, you can even program it!
- Floor lamps, to turn them on or off with a simple tap on your smartphone.
- Fan: like the coffee machine, just leave it on and activate/deactivate it directly from the power socket.
- Induction cooktop.
- Electric oven and microwave.
- Refrigerator or freezer: to disconnect the power before defrosting, or when they remain empty because you're going on vacation.
- Air fryer.
- Charging station for electric cars.
And many other devices directly or indirectly connected to power sockets, such as some devices integrated into alarm or anti-theft systems.
The immediate advantages are two-fold: the convenience of being able to smartly manage even "traditional" objects and not IoT, and the ability to save energy even more easily. Think, for example, of the status LEDs present on many appliances and devices connected to power sockets: even when indicating that the device is in sleep or stand-by mode, their energy consumption continues! Thanks to Smart Outlet Modules, you can choose to supply power only when really necessary.
Furthermore, Habits become even more comprehensive because, in addition to being able to include many more accessories, you can now manage them comfortably and sustainably, automatically turning them off at night or when you're away from home.
Dry Contact Modules: Automating Impulse or Clean Contact Devices
The Dry Contact Modules are professional and intelligent Wi-Fi-connected actuators that Freedompro has designed to automate clean contact or impulse devices (i.e., devices that respond to on/off impulses). Like the Smart Outlet Modules, they are developed to be easily connected and concealed directly behind existing wall sockets or switches.
Matter certified and compatible with leading mobile apps (Siri, Alexa, and Google) for smart home control, the Dry Contact Modules are offered in MINI version and available in four variants:
- 2-channel MINI Dry Contact Module, to connect and control up to two accessories powered at 110-240 V AC or 24 V DC.
- 1-channel MINI Dry Contact Module, to connect and control a single accessory powered at 110-240 V AC or 24 V DC.
- 2-channel MINI Dry Contact Module, to connect and control up to two accessories powered at 12 V DC.
- 1-channel MINI Dry Contact Module, to connect and control a single accessory powered at 12 V DC.
As mentioned, the Dry Contact Modules allow for the automatic management of clean contact or impulse devices, i.e., those components primarily present in control and automation systems to activate specific actions.
In practice, this means that you can use them with a wide range of accessories, such as the garden irrigation system, pedestrian gate, driveway gate, garage door, and in some cases, even the boiler.
This makes them particularly suitable for those living in independent houses or single-family homes who want the most versatile solution available in the Freedompro Smart Modules range, not only to automate various daily actions and enrich existing automations (for example, watering the garden only on specific days or conditions) but also to concretely save energy with less intuitive actions that would be harder to remember to perform manually.
With the Dry Contact Modules, which together with their "siblings" Smart Outlet Modules perfectly complete the Habits package and ensure a complete smart home experience from Freedompro, the first chapter of the Freedompro smart home concludes.
Stay tuned: we still have a lot more to tell you!
